The campaign aims to persuade businesses set up or move to Canterbury

A campaign has been launched to bring more businesses to the city of Canterbury in Kent.

Choose Canterbury is a collaboration between the city council and Locate in Kent.

Firms wanting to set up or relocate will be given help finding premises and accessing grants and loans.

There will also be support for employees and their families who move to the area.

Chris Cornell, cabinet member for economic development and inclusion, said: “We are uniquely placed. We’re close to London, along with fantastic transport links, the Channel and the Thames Estuary and have sites available for business growth.

“When you add that to our rich history and cultural heritage that attracts people to this corner of the Garden of England and the fact we have a skilled workforce supported by university-backed specialist schools in engineering and medicine, it is an irresistible combination."

Charlie Hutchings-Lawrence, Locate in Kent’s business development manager, said: “We will be working hard to attract new businesses from hotel groups to new co-working spaces while working with others to explore longer term investment opportunities.”
