A person stole till drawers containing money and tobacco while robbing a shop armed with a knife, police have said.

Humberside Police said it was called to reports of a robbery on Broadway in Grimsby, at around 06:35 GMT on Monday, with the person threatening staff and demanding money.

They fled with the till drawers in the direction of Swiftsure Crescent before officers later found what they believed to be a knife and the contents of a till on Hamilton Close.

Det Insp Darren Gray said officers would remain at the scene while investigations continue.

He said: "I understand an incident of this nature is likely to cause concern to the local community.

"A scene guard remains place whilst my teams continue carrying out lines of enquiries to identify those involved, including area searches, house to house and reviewing CCTV footage.

"If anyone has any concerns, please do come and talk to us."

The force added that nobody was injured during the incident and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
