'Sadistic man' jailed for child sex assaults

A "perverted and sadistic" man has been jailed for 16 years after being convicted of child sex offences.
Connor Laud, 27, was found guilty of raping a child under 13 and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity after a trial at Grimsby Crown Court.
Laud, of Tenterden Close in Hull, was also placed on the sex offenders' register for life during his sentencing on 19 June.
He was arrested after a child spoke about the assaults and police were informed.
'Pain and trauma'
When interviewed he denied the charges and told detectives the child must have become confused, Humberside Police said.
Det Con Gayle Allwood said: "I'd like to praise the child, and their family for their bravery, I cannot begin to comprehend how they have felt throughout the entirety of this investigation.
"Laud is a perverted and sadistic man and whilst this sentence does not take away the pain and trauma induced; it is because of the family's sheer courage that he is going to be behind bars for a very long time".
