Teenager stabbed during large scale beach disturbance

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed during a large scale disturbance on Portobello beach in Edinburgh.

Police Scotland said officers were called to the scene at around 19:40 on Friday.

The teenager was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The force said a 16-year-old was arrested in connection with assault and inquiries were ongoing.

Separately, a 14-year-old was charged in connection with possession of a weapon.

Police said a report would be sent to the relevant authorities.
