Le Mans Series event to return to Silverstone

An endurance racing championship will return to Silverstone in 2025 after a six-year hiatus.

The Northamptonshire circuit has been confirmed as one of six tracks on next year's European Le Mans Series (ELMS) calendar, having last hosted the event in 2019.

ELMS is inspired by the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans race and the Silverstone event on 14 September will feature a four hour long endruance race.

Pierre Fillon, president of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, which runs the series, said he was "extremely pleased" that fans would get "a taste of Le Mans at home at Silverstone."

Mr Fillon said: "The ELMS has firmly established itself as the leading European endurance series, with grids of over 40 cars, featuring a great mix of Le Mans Prototypes and GTs, and some of the top drivers and teams from around the world.

"It looks like the 2025 season is going to deliver even more."

Also confirmed on the 2025 calendar were races at Barcelona in Spain, Le Castellet in France - and Imola in Italy.

Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Portimao in Portugal complete the list of events.
