The northbound section of a motorway has reopened following a fire involving a lorry carrying batteries, National Highways said.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said 30 crews were involved in putting out the fire on the M11 at Stump Cross Interchange, near the Norwich A11 spur, at junction nine Newmarket and junction 10 Duxford.

On Tuesday National Highways said traffic southbound was being held back on the carriageway due to drifting smoke.

At about 02:21 National Highways said the incident had been cleared and there were no delays in the area.

The fire service said it received a call to attend at about 18:18 BST and had been "working hard to extinguish it safely".

Diversion routes had been set up via junction 9a spur road.

The fire service said no injuries had been reported.
