Bradford City said in a statement it had a "zero tolerance policy" towards abuse

A comment made on social media following Bradford City's 3-0 win against Walsall FC at the weekend is being being investigated by the club and police.

Bradford City said in a statement it was working with the West Yorkshire and West Midlands forces and Walsall FC to "identify the individual" behind the post.

The comment was believed to have referred to the fire at the Bantams' Valley Parade ground in 1985, in which 56 people died and which left more than 260 people injured.

A statement from the club said it "would like to remind everyone we have a zero tolerance policy towards any form of abuse or discrimination, including tragedy chanting, and condemn it in the strongest possible manner".

West Yorkshire Police confirmed it was investigating the comments made.

A spokeswoman said: "We are working with both clubs and West Midlands Police."
