Mum charged with murder after death of girl, two

A woman jailed for assaulting her seven-week-old daughter has been charged with murder following the girl's death.

Infant Eliza Ngaba was hurt in November 2019. She died at the age of two at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, Shropshire, on 15 August 2022.

Her mother Sarah Ngaba, 30, from Telford, was jailed for 14 years in May 2021 after being found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Ngaba, serving her sentence at HMP Foston Hall in Derbyshire, had since been charged with murder, West Mercia Police confirmed. She is due before Telford Magistrates' Court on 6 May.
