A daughter has paid tribute to her "loving mother", who was hit by a van and killed in Grimsby.

Paula Barrett, 44, was struck by the vehicle on Alexander Road on Monday and died later in hospital.

Her daughter said: "Unfortunately, she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and died tragically."

Humberside Police said its investigation was continuing and appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

In a statement issued via the force, Ms Barrett's daughter said the family felt "profound sadness" at their loss.

"My mum was a loving mother and always cared for people and wanted the best for them.

"She always made sure everyone around her was taken care of, whether it was a kind word, a warm meal, or just being there to listen, she had an incredible ability to make people feel valued and loved."

She added: "Her caring nature and the love she shared will always be remembered."
