Great British Bake Off fans could get married at the estate where the hit show is filmed if an application gets the go-ahead.

Welford Park, near Newbury, Berkshire, has hosted the programme between 2014 and 2019, and again since 2022.

Forest Edge Tipis has been using woodland at the site for wedding receptions for up to 28 days a year but wants to run events between April and September.

That would include building temporary tipis and tents for wedding ceremonies, catering and toilets, along with parking for up to 40 cars.

The company already runs bespoke weddings at other venues, including Sheepdrove Organic Farm in Lambourn.

As part of the project for Welford Park, the site on the family-owned estate would revert to woodland between October and March.

It lies within a Local Wildlife Site and the North Wessex Downs National Landscape.

The estate is also famed for its snowdrops and its annual Spectacle of Light show between October and November.

Forest Edge Tipis said it does not think the proposal would have a "significant impact" on neighbours.

It said West Berkshire Council has received no noise complaints despite it running its events at Welford Park for five years.

The local authority is expected to decide on the company's planning application in the coming months.

Georgie Grasso, from Carmarthenshire, became the first Welsh winner of the Great British Bake Off after she was crowned series 15's best baker last week.
