Van overturns and hits Pewsey bridge

A road has been closed after a van crashed into a bridge and overturned.

Wiltshire Police said the A345 Marlborough Road is currently shut in both directions after the van hit the Pewsey Wharf Canal Bridge at around 06:30 GMT.

The also confirmed the van had been recovered but the route was likely to be closed "for some days" as the structure of the bridge "may have been compromised".

Nobody was seriously injured in the incident, and drivers have been urged to avoid the area.
