A Victorian-themed Christmas market is returning to an historic market town for a third year.

The event in Banbury, Oxfordshire, will feature more than 130 stalls and live music, with people dressed in 19th Century outfits entertaining the crowds.

Taking place between 22 and 24 November, the market will conclude with the switching on of the town's Christmas lights.

The organisers, Banbury Business Improvement District (Banbury BID) and LSD Promotions, said the weekend event will be a "festive blend of nostalgia, joy and community spirit".

In a statement announcing the market's return, Banbury BID said: "Supporting local businesses and creating memorable experiences for our community is what this season is all about.

"Let’s celebrate Banbury together!"

Local musicians will also be performing, including bands from local schools and one from nearby Hook Norton Brewery.

LSD Promotions said it had been "wonderful" to see the market grow each year, adding that this year's will be "the best one yet".

"This event brings people together, creates joyful moments and supports our local traders," a spokesperson said.
