Daniel Andreas San Diego was arrested in November, 21 years after bombings in San Francisco

One of America's most wanted men who was arrested in a property in rural Wales will face a full extradition hearing later this year.

Daniel Andreas San Diego was on the FBI's most wanted terrorist list after bombings in San Francisco, California, in 2003.

In November, he was arrested in a remote location near Maenan in the Conwy valley in Conwy county.

Mr San Diego, 47, appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday for a case management hearing as he fights extradition.

He wore a grey prison-issue t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms, and spoke to confirm his personal details.

After the hearing, Mr San Diego was remanded into custody and is set to face a full extradition hearing lasting five days on 8 September.

Mr San Diego - who had a $250,000 (£199,00) bounty on his head - was arrested in north Wales, more than two decades after explosions in San Francisco he was suspected of being behind.

In August 2003, two bombs exploded about an hour apart on the campus of a biotechnology corporation, the FBI said.

A month later, a bomb strapped with nails exploded at a nutritional products corporation, according to the agency.

The FBI has accused him of being an "animal rights extremist".

Neighbours living close to the property where Mr San Diego lived described being surprised when they heard of his arrest.

"It was a perfect place to hide and he was besotted with the view from the house," said Aled Evans, who sold the house to him.
