Student flats to be built on former nightclub site
Plans for an eight-storey student flat development on the site of a former Dundee nightclub have been approved.
The old Liquid building on South Ward Road will be demolished to make way for the 215-bedroom development.
It will also house a cinema room, a gym, study areas and bike storage.
However, concerns have been raised that the flats are being built next door to another nightclub - Fat Sams.
During a meeting of Dundee City Council's planning committee on Monday, the club's owners raised fears that residents of the flats might complain about noise.
However, they did not oppose the plans of Newtide Investments Ltd.
The developers want to begin construction next summer, with the hope that students will be living in the accommodation by 2026.
The former Liquid nightclub closed in 2018 and the site has been vacant ever since.
