Woman sexually assaulted while walking dog

A woman was sexually assaulted while out walking her dog in York, police said.

The victim was on a footpath off Monkton Road in the Huntington area when she was pushed to the ground and attacked.

Police said the assault happened between midnight and 01:21 GMT on Wednesday.

The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build, who was wearing a tracksuit.

North Yorkshire Police said an "extensive area search was carried out and detailed inquiries are ongoing".

Residents in the area are being asked to check their CCTV and doorbell cameras for any footage of people walking around at the time of the attack.
