Woodland session to help veterans manage stress
Veterans in north Devon have been invited to take part in an event that aims to help them with their mental health.
The Root Cause Project, a social enterprise founded by ex-military personnel, will hold a free session at Hakeford Woods near Barnstaple at 10:00 BST.
Founder Roy Goddin said the session would offer a safe space for ex-military personnel to share their experiences with like-minded people and learn how to manage stress.
"We've combined our mental health expertise, survival skills and military experience with the healing power of nature," he said.
Mr Goddin, an ex-navy commando and qualified teacher, said the Root Cause Project was created as a safety net for veterans and serving personnel.
He said the session was "a space where our military family can find the support they deserve".
The event will involve sitting around a fire chatting with fellow veterans, taking part in woodcraft, woodland management or wild cooking, he added.
