A 13-year-old boy is in a critical condition following a crash in Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services were called to the incident, involving a silver Renault Clio and a bicycle, outside Screwfix on Leek Road in Hanley just after 18:00 GMT on Monday.

Staffordshire Police said the teenager was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with head and leg injuries.

The force appealed for witnesses, as well as anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said bystanders were caring for the boy when paramedics arrived.

“Upon assessment the boy was found with serious injuries and the team quickly administered trauma care to him to stabilise his condition,” a spokesman added.

The driver of the car was uninjured, police said.
