A woman in her 50s has died after being hit by a car in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called to Blurton Road in Blurton just after 11:30 GMT on Monday to reports a black Kia Ceed had hit a pedestrian.

The air ambulance flew to the scene but a spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, whose paramedics gave urgent trauma care to the woman, said she could not be saved.

Investigators were still working to establish the circumstances, police said, adding that the driver of the car stopped at the scene.

“At this stage, we don’t believe anyone else was involved,” a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said.

Witnesses are asked to contact the force.
