Volunteers thanked for their 'tree-mendous' help

Volunteers helped restore the fallen tree at St Wulfrum's Church in Grantham

A Lincolnshire church's fallen Christmas tree has been raised upright again after volunteers responded to an online appeal by its vicar.

Father Stuart Cradduck, Rector at St Wulfram's in Grantham said the tree had toppled over after a gust of wind blew through the church on Monday.

After struggling to raise the 23ft (7m) fir Father Cradduck put out a plea on Facebook for help.

Volunteers from schools and local business used ladders and a cherry picker to restore the tree to its upright position.

The tree was blown over by strong winds that blew through when the main doors were open, the church said.

Speaking at the time, Father Cradduck said: "Luckily, no-one was hurt."

In a social media post, St Wulfram's thanked everybody who helped for their "tree-mendous" efforts.
