Train services around Aberdeen have been disrupted after a car crashed into a stone wall above railway tracks.

Network Rail said the line between Aberdeen and Dyce had to be closed at about 21:00 on Saturday, while police sealed off the area at Donbank Terrace.

Specialist engineers have assessed the damage and repairs need to be carried out to the bridge parapet. Debris also needs to be removed from the area.

The line will remain closed on Sunday as it is unsafe to run trains under the bridge, with Network Rail describing the damage as "significant".

Alterations have been made to the ScotRail timetable and passengers have been urged to check their journeys before travelling.
