Residents were urged to keep their windows and doors closed due to a large fire in Devon late on Thursday evening.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted to an industrial fire on Christow Road in the Marsh Barton area of Exeter at about 20:35 GMT.

The service requested people to "stay away from the area", adding it believed the cause of the fire was accidental.

Crew members used water jets to "bring a large pile of scrap metal, that is well alight, under control" - the fire was fully out by 06:00 on Friday.
