Serious injuries as car crashes into building

A man has suffered life-changing injuries after a car crashed into a building in Devon, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the 45-year-old was taken to hospital after the crash which involved a Vauxhall Astra on Teignmouth Road in Torquay at about 21:55 GMT on Sunday.

The force said a 32-year-old man from Torquay had been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remained in custody.

Police said a second person who was thought to have left the scene was also being sought by officers.
