A person has been left in a potentially life-threatening condition following a crash on a Devon road, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to the incident which involved two vehicles on the A379 in Shaldon at about 17:30 GMT on Monday.

The force said the firefighters and paramedics were also called out to the incident, which closed the road in both directions near Shaldon Golf Course.

A police spokesperson said up to five people sustained injuries in the crash, including one person who was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth in a potentially life-changing or life-threatening condition.
