Drivers were facing delays of up to 45 minutes on Sunday due to congestion caused by works on the M25.

Junctions 10, near Wisley, and junction 11, near Woking, are closed in both directions while a bridge is demolished as part of improvement works.

The clockwise approach to junction 10 saw 45 minute delays, anti-clockwise traffic at junction 11 was held up by 30 minutes and northbound drivers on the A3 experienced delays of 20 minutes, said National Highways.

The closures are in place until 06:00 GMT Monday.

M25 to close this weekend

National Highways said: "We're grateful to all drivers who avoided previous closures and completed their journeys in other ways.

"We urge you to do the same again."

It is the latest in a series of closures between the two junctions as part of a severely delayed £317m project to add extra lanes.

Work began in 2022 but was pushed back due to bad weather, National Highways previously said. It is now scheduled to end in spring 2026.

The work this weekend involves demolishing a bridge at junction 10.

The same stretch of road will be closed again from 21 to 24 March.
