Man dies in crash that closes M25 for 10 hours

A man has died in a crash between a car and a lorry that has closed the M25 for 10 hours in Essex and London.

Emergency services were called to between junction 29 at Upminster and junction 30 at Thurrock at about 04:00 BST.

National Highways said the road remained closed clockwise leading to the Dartford crossing.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "Sadly one patient died at the scene. A second patient was taken to hospital while two further patients were treated and discharged at the scene."

The condition of the second patient is unknown.

At 12:15, National Highways posted on X: "Police are still investigating. There are 45 minute delays on approach."

Drivers have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys.
