Who is Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayoral candidate Lorna Dupre?

On 1 May voters in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will decide the next Combined Authority Mayor. You can find more information about the election and the other candidates here.

East Cambridgeshire councillor

Lorna Dupre lives in Sutton, near Ely, and is currently leader of the Liberal Democrat & Independent Group on East Cambridgeshire District Council.

She is also deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats on Cambridgeshire County Council and chair of the council's environment and green investment committee.

Combined Authority experience

She has previously been chair of the Combined Authority's overview and scrutiny committee. She was responsible for holding both of the previous mayors to account, and has seen the mayoralty at first hand.

Transport

Dupre says she wants to see better public transport and repair "broken links". She says she will prioritise fixing the county's roads, invest in long-term solutions, and ensure communities get the infrastructure they deserve.

Housing

She says there is a "desperate need" for genuinely affordable homes in the right place. She says she will use new powers handed down from government to make that happen.

Environment

She wants to see access to new skills for the "changing world of work" and cooperation to meet the "urgent challenges of a changing climate".
