A new £17m service station has opened on a major route through Cambridgeshire.

The facility, operated by Moto Hospitality, is located near Sawtry on the A1(M) between Peterborough and Huntingdon.

Moto said the development would bring more than 100 jobs to the local area, and said about 60% of those had been filled by people living in Sawtry village.

The services boasts more than 200 spaces for cars, HGVs and coaches as well as six electric vehicle charging bays.

High street names including Burger King, Costa Coffee, Greggs, Marks & Spencer, Pret and WH Smith will all operate from the services.

It will also offer a BP forecourt for motorists.

Ken McMeikan, chief executive of Moto Hospitality, said: "We are delighted to open our newest motorway service area at Sawtry, which not only enhances our network of service areas across the UK but also brings fantastic brands to motorists, alongside essential services such as HGV parking and state-of-the-art EV charging hubs."
