Plans for extra housing on former university site
GoogleA planning application has been submitted for care housing to be built on a former university site in Surrey.
The application includes the proposed demolition and restoration of existing buildings at the former University of Law's Braboeuf Manor site in Guildford.
The work would provide extra care housing, associated ancillary accommodation, public realm works and car parking at the site, which has been vacant since the summer, the application said.
It has been referred to Guildford Borough Council's planning committee after 97 letters of objection were received.
The work would also include the refurbishment of Pound Cottage for use as a single dwelling.
The site, which extends to 9.5 hectares (23.5 acres), is located approximately 1.5 miles (2.4km) to the south-west of Guildford town centre.
It contains 12 existing buildings and structures including the Grade II listed Braboeuf Manor, administrative buildings, plus squash and tennis courts.
