Town's poppy display found dumped in park
A poppy display ripped from a town's market cross has been found dumped in a park.
Poppies, attached to netting, had been draped on the Butter Cross in Wainfleet All Saints, near Skegness, ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
It was removed at some point on Friday night.
Town councillor Wendy Bowkett said its removal had been met with anger among residents but confirmed it was found on Saturday morning and was now back in place.
Bowkett said the taking of the display was “very disrespectful”.
She added it had appeared to have been dragged through leaves and smelled "horrible".
Bowkett appealed to those responsible for removing it to own up and apologise to the town.
