Young people invited on board youth club bus

A charity is providing a free youth club bus to support young people across Guernsey over the summer.

The Youth Commission of Guernsey and Alderney has created "The Bus Stop" aiming to provide "a space for children to socialise, access support, and engage in activities that inspire and prepare them for the future".

Emmie Bougourd, Youth Commission outreach lead, said young people needed access to "safe spaces, support, and informal education" and the bus would allow them to reach more children.

Following its launch on Liberation Day, the charity has announced a list of dates and venues the bus will visit areas across the island.

The charity said the free service was open to anyone up to the age of 18 and would be manned by trained youth support workers.

The bus will be touring throughout the May half term break, followed by further dates in June and July.

Ms Bougourd said its outreach youth work was about "removing barriers, whether social, economic, behavioural, or geographic".

She added the bus would "ensure equal access to vital information, resources, and opportunities", wherever young people were on the island.
