Footballer admits causing cyclist's crash death

A professional footballer has admitted causing the death of a cyclist in a crash in West Yorkshire.
Adrian Daniel, 33, died 10 days after he was struck by 36-year-old Lucas Akins' Mercedes G350 in Huddersfield in March 2022.
The Mansfield Town player, of Heys Road in Thongsbridge, Holmfirth, admitted causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving at a hearing at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday.
Akins, a forward who previously played for clubs including Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion, will be sentenced at the same court on 24 April.
Mr Daniel, from Meltham, was cycling on Huddersfield Road in Netherton on 17 March when he was hit at the junction with Crosland Factory Lane.
Mansfield Town did not wish to comment when approached by the BBC.
