Work on an access road to a new household tip has begun in Dorset.

Blandford Waste Management Centre will replace the current site at Blandford Heights Industrial Estate and is due to be completed in autumn 2026.

The site, south of Sunrise Business Park, will include a household recycling centre and a waste transfer barn, where kerbside rubbish and recycling will be collected.

Dorset Council said temporary traffic lights and roadworks would be in place until 9 June.

Place services councillor Jon Andrews said: "Residents will be getting a brand-new household recycling centre that's easy to use and highly accessible, making dropping off waste smoother, quicker, and an overall more pleasant experience.

"The new site also allows for better segregation of materials, which will help people reuse more items, as well as recycle as much as they can."
