Sunday closures planned on main city centre road

A main road in Leicester city centre is to be closed on four Sundays so large cranes can be used to carry out telecoms work.
Leicester City Council said Charles Street would be shut in both directions between Humberstone Gate and Belgrave Gate between 08:00 BST and 20:00 on 11 and 18 of May and 1 and 29 June.
The authority said the closures were needed "in the interest of public safety" so Vodafone could access equipment at Epic House with the cranes.
During the closures, vehicles will be diverted along Belgrave Gate, St Matthews Way, Humberstone Road and Humberstone Gate.
Access will be maintained for buses driving into the bus station from the Humberstone Road end only, the council said.
Buses exiting the bus station will exit onto Belgrave Gate and Haymarket.
While work is under way, footways will also be closed between Lower Hill Street and Kildare Street, with pedestrians being diverted via Clarence Street.
