Rail disruption as engineering works overrun

Rail passengers are facing disruption after engineering works overran.

South Western Railway (SWR) said the work, being carried out between Totton and Brockenhurst, means the line towards Bournemouth is blocked.

Specialist teams have been sent to the site to fix the issue.

SWR said replacement buses between Southampton Central and Brockenhurst had been requested. Trains are expected be delayed, cancelled or revised until 12:00 GMT.

Routes affected:

  • Between Basingstoke / London Waterloo / Southampton Central / Winchester and Bournemouth
  • Between Southampton Central and Poole / Weymouth
  • Between London Waterloo and Weymouth

The train firm said rail tickets for affected journeys could be used on Bluestar bus routes.
