People living in Hampshire are being warned to prepare for flooding following heavy rainfall brought by Storm Bert.

The Environment Agency (EA) has issued flood warnings for Landford to Wade Bridge on the River Blackwater and alerts for areas including Lymington River, Mansbridge and Riverside Park, Monks Brook and Romsey Tadburn Lake.

There is currently one flood warning and seven flood alerts in place for the county.

Travel issues are set to continue with numerous roads affected by flooding and many trains are being delayed or cancelled due to a fallen tree blocking the lines.

The EA advises that if a flood warning is in place you should move your family and pets to a safe place and move your car or other vehicles to higher ground, if it is safe to do so, planning your driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue is urging drivers to take care on their commutes through Monday morning with many roads still affected by heavy rain.

Great Western Railway (GWR) has suspended train services on all key routes after flooding and a fallen tree which has blocked access to key locations on the network.

A GWR spokesperson said: "We've sorry for the disruption to journeys. Network Rail and GWR teams are working hard across the network and will carry out inspections to reopen lines as quickly as possible."

Commuters are being urged to not travel today as the disruption is expected to last until the end of Monday.

Yellow warnings of wind and rain were in place across the South over the weekend, with dozens of events cancelled because of the weather conditions.

A man died after a tree fell on a car on the A34 near Winchester, but police have not confirmed if the incident was linked to Storm Bert.
