A 13-year-old boy has been charged with violent disorder linked to the riots in the Harehills area of Leeds last summer.

The boy, who is from Harehills but who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court on Thursday, West Yorkshire Police said.

He will appear alongside 59-year-old Robert Lockwood, of Brecon Approach in Leeds, who has been charged with arson and violent disorder linked to the disturbances which broke out on the evening of 18 July.

Troubled flared in the area after social workers called for police assistance in removing children from a local family, which had been instructed by a family court.
