Recovery of derailed train delayed to new year

Plans to move a derailed high-speed train have been postponed "into the new year".

The train, which derailed on 28 November, was travelling at a low speed in a siding at Ramsgate railway maintenance depot in Kent, according to Network Rail.

There were no passengers on board and no reported injuries.

A spokesperson for the Southeastern and Network Rail Alliance said: "We have a plan to re-rail and recover the damaged train at Ramsgate; however, given the need to use specialist equipment in order to do so, this will now be rescheduled as soon as possible in the new year."
