Trains face delays over Sunday workers shortage
A train company has said services will be disrupted because it cannot find enough conductors to work on Sunday.
Trains from stations in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire will be affected.
Northern said journeys may take longer and be less frequent, and that there would be cancellations and alterations to the timetable.
"The underlying reason is train crew availability, in particular on Sundays which is contractually outside of the working week," a Northern spokesman said.
Northern said a short-term timetable is planned for the day and a number of replacement services will be available.
But it warned there would be gaps in the service and advised commuters to check their journey before travelling.
"Recently, we have seen higher levels of cancellations in the North West and for that we are sorry," the spokesman added.
