Footballer's medals and memorabilia to go on sale
Football memorabilia belonging to a footballing legend will be sold at auction.
The collection includes Gary Shaw's 1982 European Cup winners medal, from when Aston Villa defeated Bayern Munich, as well as his 1981 Football League Championship medal.
Shaw, 63, made his Villa debut early in the 1978-79 season, and was the team's top scorer in 1979-80. He died in September from injuries sustained in a fall.
The items will go under the hammer on 5 December through Telford-based auctioneer, Mullock Jones Auctioneers & Valuers, with a guide price of £50,000.
"Gary Shaw was an integral part of Aston Villa's history and a cherished figure in English football," said Ben Jones, from the auctioneers.
Shaw was named the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year in 1981 and European Young Player of the Year in 1982.
The former England Under-21s striker also played for Blackpool, Walsall, Kilmarnock and Shrewsbury Town.
He worked as a statistical analyst since retiring from football in 1992 and was a club ambassador at Villa Park.
Crowds gathered at the ground for his funeral procession in October.
