A 15-year-old girl has been seriously injured in a crash after a police pursuit in East Yorkshire.

Humberside Police said firefighters were needed to free the teenager from a Renault Clio that hit a wall and three parked cars in Hessle Road, Hull, at 00:45 GMT on Saturday.

The car had failed to stop for officers when it was seen being driven "erratically" on Kingston Road in Willerby.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) had been informed of the incident due to the prior police contact, the force said. Three boys, all aged 15, were arrested.

Two of the boys, included the suspected driver, were arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, driving with no insurance, driving without a licence, dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle.

The third boy was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving without insurance.

Officers said the girl's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses are asked to contact police.
