Rose producer looks to grow site facilities
GoogleAn award-winning horticulture firm is hoping to expand its potting operations.
David Austin Roses wants to create a new home for its potting operation at its base on Bowling Green Lane, Albrighton, in Shropshire.
The firm, which breeds and produces ornamental plants and cut roses, has applied to Shropshire Council for planning permission to construct a 736 square metre steel framed building to sit adjacent to others on the site.
The company's on-site rose garden is one of only three gardens in England to have received the ‘Award of Garden Excellence’ from the World Federation of Rose Societies.
It has been growing in Albrighton since it was founded in 1969 and has been awarded 28 gold medals by the Royal Horticultural Society at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The company said if planning permission was granted it would improve efficiency in its production operations and reduce hazards from forklift trucks crossing the site.
The plans for the new production building will be decided by Shropshire Council in due course.
