Appeal after man injured in hit-and-run crash

An appeal is being made to trace the driver of a car police said drove off after hitting a pedestrian.

A 56-year-old man was struck by a grey car in Bulwell between 18:40 and 18:55 BST on Thursday, said Nottinghamshire Police.

He was using the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Jennison Street and Main Street, close to the town's Tesco and Lidl stores, when he went over the bonnet of the car and was thrown to the floor.

The victim had to walk to a bus stop nearby to raise the alarm.

Members of the public there helped with his injuries.

He was taken to hospital with facial injuries which required nine stitches as well as swelling to his ankle and elbow, said the force.

Appealing for witnesses to make contact, PC Jacob Cole said: "Thankfully the victim is expected to make a full recovery, but it is important we trace the driver."
