New college building project enters next stage

The roof of a showpiece building in Wolverhampton's new learning quarter has been installed as the project enters its next phase.

Situated around the Old Hall Street and St George's Parade area of the city, the building will allow City of Wolverhampton College to move from its "outdated" Paget Road site.

The building is the centrepiece of a £61m, government-supported scheme by City of Wolverhampton Council to establish new educational provision across the city and wider region.

The building remains on schedule to welcome college student for the 2025/26 academic year, the council said.

Work to install cladding, glazing and internal fixtures will now take place as the development enters its next stage.

Chris Burden, the council's cabinet member for city development, jobs and skills, said: "The City Learning Quarter has been a long-held ambition of the city council and fantastic progress is being made by the contractors in the construction of this skills and education hub that will unlock future opportunities for all in the city.

"The development is now a prominent feature in the city centre and when completed will act as a focal point, increasing footfall to support neighbouring businesses."
