Man jailed over kitchen knife stabbing

A man has been jailed after stabbing someone following a dispute.

Aaron Thomas Rodger, of Telfords Lane, Corby in Northamptonshire, stabbed a man with a kitchen knife twice at a gathering in Stephenson Way in the town on 10 August 2024.

The 47-year-old, who had been drinking alcohol, took offence to a comment made by one of the others.

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

Rodger was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty to the offence at Northampton Crown Court, and on 24 February he was sentenced to 32 months in prison and ordered to pay a surcharge of £228.

Det Con Lewis Patterson, of Northamptonshire Police, said: "What is frightening about this case is the ease in which Rodger chose to pick up a knife when he didn't like something his friend had said.

"Knives kill, and choosing to use one to settle a dispute could have fatal consequences.

"We will continue working hard, not only to put people like Aaron Rodger behind bars, but also to continue raising awareness of the very real dangers of using a knife as a weapon."
