Police are warning people about eating locally sourced meat, after a sheep was killed at a farm

Police have warned people to check locally source meat after after a sheep, which was on medication, was killed at a farm.

Officers from Northamptonshire Police's rural crime team appealed for information after the animal was killed at the propertyin High Street, Twywell.

A spokesperson said the animal was on medication at the time of the offence, and therefore would be unfit for human consumption.

Police said the incident happened between 19:00 (GMT) on 28 February and 16:00 on 1 March.

The rural crime team said anyone buying local meat in the area, and surrounding towns and villages, should check that it has been legally sourced before consuming it.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident.
