Rescued ferret finds new home in Finland

A ferret found in North East Lincolnshire was adopted by a man who lives in Finland

A rescued ferret has found a new home 2,000 miles away from where it was discovered.

The ferret, named Boh, was found dumped in Waltham, North East Lincolnshire, in March and has been adopted by a man in Finland.

Boh, also known as Stink Boy, was rescued by Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue and fostered by one of its volunteers before he was given a new home.

Jaakko Rajaniemi flew from Finland to the UK to pick up his new pet on 12 November.

The rescue centre did not have enough room for Boh so volunteer Tia Chan took care of him on a short-term basis.

She described Boh as "very smelly" and "quite bitey" because he was stressed when he first came to live with her.

"When I had him, he wanted to play with me. But, because they are so mouthy when they play, he just wanted to bite me all the time," Ms Chan said.

Boh arrived safely in Finland on 12 November

Ms Chan posted in an online ferret community, asking for someone to give Boh a forever home and even joked to her friend, who lives in Finland, about adopting him.

Much to her surprise, her friend, Mr Rajaniemi, agreed and flew to the UK to pick up his new pet.

She said Mr Rajaniemi was keen to adopt Boh because they do not have many ferrets for pets in Finland.

Boh relaxed in his hammock during his flight to Finland and landed safely in his new country about 2,000 miles (3,200km) away from where he was found.
