First snow of winter for parts of the south

The first snow of this winter fell across Hampshire and Dorset, creating some stunning scenery.

Dorchester, Sherborne, Lyndhurst and Burley in the New Forest were some of the areas left under a white blanket on Thursday.

While the snow caused some disruption to travel and led to schools closing, it also offered some he chance to capture a flurry of picturesque snowy scenes.

A Facebook video posted by Dorset Council showed the view from one of its snow ploughs.

Burglars broke into a farm on the estate surrounding Windsor Castle last month and stole two vehicles, Thames Valley Police has said.

The break-in was at a farm on the Windsor estate, which also includes residences of the Royal Family.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were reported to be at their house on the estate during the night-time burglary, but Kensington Palace has not commented.

A pick-up truck and quad bike were stolen from the farm and no arrests have been made so far, according to the police.

Farmers across the south of England are calling for change after it was announced in the Autumn Budget that some farms would be charged inheritance tax.

Isle of Wight shepherdess Milly Collins said she was joining the protest because the government's decision was "a complete stab in the back".

The government said its "difficult decisions" were due to "a £22bn fiscal hole".

A barber has called for higher standards in the hair industry after seeing "loads of cases" of young men catching ringworm from haircuts.

Mike Taylor runs a barbering training academy in Poole, Dorset, and wants the government to take the currently unregulated profession more seriously.

He said customers had been coming to him with skin infections as "cheap, dirty unqualified barbershops are littering the high streets".

The government said it had "no plans to regulate the hairdressing sector".

A musician who faces going deaf at any moment is set to release an album.

Diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), Tom Gockelen-Kozlowski from Oxford has lost all hearing on his left side and half on his right.

The 37-year-old, who goes under the stage name Tom Gk, has used a hearing aid since his mid-20s.

He said the news was "shattering" and his big ambition was to make an album while he still could.
