Police link stolen motorbike with fatal A47 crash

Police are linking the theft of a motorbike with a head-on crash which killed two men.

An orange Sinnis motorcycle heading towards Great Yarmouth on the A47 Acle Straight collided with an Audi TT just after 23:30 BST on Friday.

The motorbike rider and the pillion passenger – men in their 30s and 40s – both died at the scene.

Norfolk Police said a motorbike had been reported stolen in Norwich about 40 minutes before the crash.

A force spokesperson added: "We received a call at 22:53 on Friday, 16 August, from a member of the public who believed two men were in the process of stealing a motorbike in Pottergate.

"An officer was on scene at 23.01. A search of the area was undertaken but nothing was found."

The Audi driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged.

The road between Great Yarmouth and Acle was closed for more than 12 hours.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
