Man dies after being knocked down in Dungannon

A man has died after being knocked down in Dungannon, County Tyrone on Friday.

Edmund Hughes was struck by a vehicle on John Street shortly after 18:30 GMT. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

The road was closed but has since reopened.

Speaking to BBC News NI, independent councillor for Dungannon Barry Monteith said that "everyone is shocked and saddened" by the news.

"He will be sadly missed by his family," Monteith said.
