A distinctive former army truck has been stolen from a street in Hertfordshire, police have revealed.

The Land Rover 101 Forward Control was last seen in Paxton Court near Manor Way in Borehamwood.

Hertfordshire Police believe it was taken at about 04:25 BST on 11 April.

The owner of the vehicle said it was once used as part of a UN peacekeeping mission - and the original white paint can be seen underneath the green.

Land Rover 101 Forward Controls were primarily used by the army between the 1970s and the late 1990s.

The vehicle was used as a gun tractor and also as military ambulances.

PC Dean Goodwin, of the Hertsmere Intervention Team, said: “I am appealing to the public who might have seen this truck around the local area or witnessed it being taken from Manor Way."
